Yukai Engineering of Tokyo to showcase its latest robot after hitting

its Kickstarter fundraising goal in 6 days

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 28, 2017) –  Yukai Engineering Inc., a Tokyo-based robotics startup known for creating robots that bring joy to life, will demonstrate Qoobo, a robotic pillow with a cat-like tail that makes realistic moves in response to the user’s stroking and rubbing, from Jan. 9 to 12 at CES® 2018.

Originally intended as a tool to provide comfort to seniors, Qoobo became one of the most talked-about gadgets on the internet after it was unveiled Oct. 3 at CEATEC Japan 2017, netting more than 10 million online video views.  The Kickstarter fundraising for Qoobo reached the goal of 500,000-yen (approx. $45K) in six days and has now raised more than 200 percent of that amount.

At CES 2018, Yukai Engineering will also showcase an updated version of BOCCO, a family messenger robot that has enjoyed commercial success in Japan following its unveiling at CES 2015. Capable of connecting to multiple sensors and web-based IoT services, BOCCO serves as an IoT platform for Yahoo! Japan’s myThings, as well as for smart homes developed by Japan’s major builders.
